As we roll into the New Year, you must’ve wondered what type of automobiles the industry has in place to introduce to the public. But before we get into the new vehicles, there is one thing we would like to point out. Brands like Jaguar and Mercedes are putting all of their efforts to produce electric cars. However while electric vehicles aren't posting big sales numbers yet, auto companies are making significant investments in them.
Today we will cover two popular brands who will release two excellent luxury machines that will leave you in awe. Those two brands are Bavarian Motor Works and Audi. We have mentioned Audis’ A8 in our last post if you have missed it “The 5 Best Cars to Buy in 2019”. This time we will go more in-depth with Audi’s A8.
On the other hand there is the almighty BMW 7 Series, the flagship of BMW. It embodies everything BMW stands for. The first feature that stands out to the eye is that you can have the vehicle roll out of the garage without getting in the car! But we will get more into that in a few.
So let’s start with the BMW 7 Series. BMW is likely to reveal the new 7 Series in the summer of next year with sales following shortly after. According to BMW’s official website, it’s indicated that BMW took a load off the build of the vehicle. The structure of the car has been upgraded with die-cast aluminum and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), all placed in optimum locations. This is the most spacious sedan BMW has ever made, yet it's around 190 pounds lighter than the previous generation.
The 7 series has robust engine options, with a twin-turbocharged V6, a twin-turbo V8, a plug-in hybrid, and an explosive turbocharged V12 in the lineup, the 2019 BMW 7 Series sedan offers buyers an incredible range of powertrains to choose from. The 7 Series will include two versions; the 740i & the 750i, among other versions which we will mention later.
The 740i has a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine turbocharged to produce 320 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque.

The 750i possesses a turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 developing 445 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque.

Again, rear-wheel drive is the basic setup in the 750i.
Fuel consumption is rated at 17 mpg city/25 mpg hwy/20 mpg combined, or 16 mpg city/25 mpg hwy/19 mpg combined with the all-wheel-drive system.
Both versions have active grille shutters contributing to aerodynamic efficiency.
And as well as a full-size flagship, the BMW 7 Series is a technological masterpiece.
Both versions of the BMW (750i & 740i) include the Autobahn package. The package comes with cameras which reads the road surface and then prompts the computer-controlled suspension to react accordingly. It also contains variable-ratio steering and rear-wheel steering (known as Integral Active Steering). A welcoming carpet of LED lights invites passengers to relax in an elegant rear cabin. How classy is that feature? It’s the small things that make BMW a legendary luxurious brand.
With high-quality materials and state of the art craftsmanship the interior speaks volume. The seats are covered with Dakota leather upholstery. At the cockpit of the vehicle, there is a heads up display (and the windshield). The new series is equipped with BMW Navigation system with 10.2" high-resolution screen.
A simple action can mean so much: You can speak to the vehicle via hand gestures and voice command. Who to talk and listen to, where to go, what to see, this new machine is bringing class to a whole new level. Gesture Control, intelligent voice commands, and touch-screen controls break down the barriers of communication between driver and desire. Driving made easy and comfortable. At the rear is the executive lounge where you have much leg room. Concealed under the armrest is an integrated table if you have the spare time to complete some work.
Now, BMW has introduced the new touch command with a tablet computer. With the tablet, you have access to the entire controls to the vehicle. From heating the seats to the position, the passenger has full access. The rear seat is equipped with the seat entertainment professional system. While you are at the passenger section, you can't miss the roof. You can set the mood for your evening. The Panoramic Sky Lounge is the perfect complement to the captivating lighting inside the 7 series. Really the ambient light in the 7 series is psychedelic. And that is because the lighting has a range of smooth colors. Did we mention that the roof also has LED lighting? Cruising in this bad boy will probably feel like flying a spaceship.
Now we have the Audi’s A8. Let's say this: Audi has stuck with its roots on this vehicle while also upgrading some of its interface. Audi's slogan is “Vorsprung durch Technik”, meaning "Being Ahead through Technology." And the team behind Audi has delivered it. That is why we put the A8 against the 7 series. The A8 poses as a genuine threat to its competition BMW. Setting new standards and adding more value to the definition of luxury.

The 2019 A8 blends in more materials for a light-weight body that puts pounds back on with new electrification hardware.
The A8 is the king of Audi’s luxury sedans, packed with tech including autonomous driving features and luxury options—including a foot warmer for rear-seat passengers.
A 335-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 is standard; a 460-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 is optional. All-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic, and air suspension are standard. An optional system scans the road for imperfections and adapts the suspension to absorb them. A 449-hp plug-in hybrid with inductive charging arrives in 2019.
We will get into all of that tech stuff shortly. But first the body, Audi designed the new A8's body based on the MLB architecture, which means a front-drive orientation, though all American A8s will be sold with all-wheel drive. The central structure of the vehicle remains aluminum, but steel, magnesium, carbon fiber reinforced plastic, now have a role in reducing weight and increasing body stiffness. Audi has mentioned that they will not offer the vehicle with an all-electric variant. However they may add a plug-in hybrid that will also be introduced next year.

As always Audi has perfected its interior electrical systems. Audi's team 86'd the extra buttons from its previous models in the cockpit and exchanged them with touch-sensitive surfaces and digital displays. Audi layers in high-resolution screens in the gauge cluster, and a dual-screen arrangement at the center of the dash.
Audi has further enhanced it’s elegant design elements and combined exterior exclusivity with sporty agility. With the New Year right around the corner the Audi A8 stands alone– reminiscent of the original Quattro.
From the technology perspective, the traffic jam pilot is revolutionary. During piloted driving, a central driver assistance controller (zFAS) now permanently computes an image of the surroundings by merging the sensor data. Adding to the radar sensors, a front camera and the ultrasonic sensors, Audi is the first car manufacturer also to use a laser scanner. Introduction of the Audi AI traffic jam pilot requires both clarity regarding the legal parameters for each individual country and specific application and testing of the system. The brand’s high claim to quality also applies to conditional automated driving. In addition, different approval procedures worldwide and their corresponding time limits must be kept in mind. For these reasons, Audi is planning a gradual introduction of the traffic jam pilot in the A8.
The A8 will appear in a second edition the A8 L.

The A8 L does not have any major differences, just like the standard A8 it will add in comfortable seats with an excellent massage function covered with Valetta leather, a smooth ride, a high-quality Bang & Olufsen sound system, and you have a recipe for a truly fantastic road trip car.
Lastly, the 2019 Audi A8 will be the second U.S.-bound Audi to feature laser headlights after the limited-run R8 V10 Plus exclusive edition.

So there you have it. The BMW 7 Series and the Audi A8 side by side car compared. We will admit one thing: it’s a tough decision to make. Both brands are going to bring their A game to the market more than ever before. Both Audi and BMW have put much thought to produce these beautiful machines for the public. But at the same time only one will rise above in the industry with their respective projects. Also, the BMW only comes with Apple CarPlay as an optional feature, while the A8 has both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Audi A8 has MSRP starting at $83,800, while the 7 Series starts at $83,650 for the 740i edition.
